Dunbartonshire Chamber of Commerce has taken inspiration from the “Eat Out to Help Out” Scheme to call for the hospitality businesses affected to ensure they share the products and services they are still able to offer under the banner of “Take Out to Help Out”.
Damon Scott, Chief Executive, of Dunbartonshire Chamber of Commerce, who came up with the idea, said: “We are continuing to support businesses through this crisis and, in partnership with East and West Dunbartonshire Councils, helping to deliver LovesLocal campaigns in 5 towns across Dunbartonshire to encourage our communities to Shop Local. The latest rule changes will hit our hospitality businesses again so we all need to do whatever we can to help them.
Whilst we recognise that there will be businesses that may need to shut down completely, others have already found new ways to continue to meet customer needs by offering takeaway or delivery services.
“That is where a local “#TakeOutToHelpOut” drive could really help if we can get the businesses and communities behind the campaign – particularly after the 6pm curfew for the cafes that can continue to operate during the day. It aligns really well with all the great work we have undertaken recently in partnership with our local authorities to develop the Loves Local Campaigns. We are delighted that the Milngavie Business Improvement District have also come on board to support the promotion of #TakeOutToHelpOut and take it to an ever-widening audience.”
“The Chamber is already reaching out to businesses to provide their details as part of the LovesLocal activity so we can feature them on the new web platforms we have developed for each town and we would encourage any business we have not already been in contact with to send us their details so we can add them to the listing.
We will also share posts from Dunbartonshire business that use the hashtag #TakeOutToHelp alongside the LovesLocal hashtags – for East Dunbartonshire Towns those are #BearsdenLovesLocal, #BishopbrigssLovesLocal and #MilngavieLovesLocal.
“The response from our local businesses has been fantastic to continue to support their local communities and our hope is that we continue to see that support reciprocated as it will be a lifeline for some of them. Businesses have worked incredibly hard to change the way they operate to meet customer needs and have shown some amazing agility and innovation. We are always open to ideas that can help and The Chamber will continue to welcome contact and engagement from any business in Dunbartonshire, not just members during this challenging time.
We are keen to link up with any local companies that think they can help and will be making further contact with our local taxi operators to see if there is a role they can play to help with local deliveries.”
